I am VERY IMPRESSED with the philosophy of the Parkway Swim program. Things like “building a sense of team”, emphasizing technique over volume, and just the overall encouragement from all the coaches has been wonderfully refreshing. I’ve observed a lot of youth athletic programs and coaches over the years. Parkways seems to be doing what is “RIGHT”, not what is “EASY”. I completely understand how young kids with potential can be turned into short-term stars with a steady diet of VOLUME. It’s “MUCH” better, but also requires “MUCH” more patience, to take more of a careful, steady, technique-oriented approach. That will pay MAJOR dividends for the program and the kids “down the road”. It will take time for those results to become apparent to the masses, but please know that what you are doing with the program is something I very much admire and support. My son loves swimming, loves the Parkway Swim Team, and is thriving. Yeah, he’s getting some DQs along the way, but it’s because he’s trying to do the things he’s being taught in practice. Those DQs serve as learning opportunities and he’ll improve as a swimmer from those experiences. I wanted to drop you a line to let you know how proud I was to read about Parkways success at the Sectionals meet.I recently went into some of the other St. Louis swim team’s websites, and was wondering what was going on with the USA swim team rankings. You and the other coaches have done an amazing job with these kids, and I told Thom I kind of wished Andrew was a couple of years younger. You should be proud of the hard work you have put into turning this club around...I'm so impressed, and so happy to see things going so well for Parkway! It's soooo good to have the right man at the helm. You have breathed new life into a club with an outstanding reputation, that desperately needed a shot in the arm. Parkway has meant so much to us over the last 11 Years, and it really hurt to see and go through some of the not so good years. I can't wait to see what you and Parkway can accomplish now that you have things headed in the right direction. You and the kids should be so proud! I know we are.
